How refreshing Emery is. For ages I have failed to understand why we didn't press and the players looked lazy at times.
I will always find Wenger an enigma, The first half of his time at the club, was so different to the second half, which was only saved by CL qualification in all bar the final 2 seasons and winning 3 FA Cup finals.
Wenger was a contradiction, allowing players in many respects freedom to express themselves, but with many constraints.
The thing that astounds me is that Wenger is now saying the club lost patience. Did he truly belive we were heading in the right direction? Fortunately, the current squad still has some talent that can be improved by Emery and he will no doubt sell some players and bring in players.
Wenger has also been piping up about how we nearly signed Ronaldo, Messi, etc. This is irrelevant, under Wenger we actually sold players in their prime such as; Henry, Vieira, Van Persie, Sanchez, Oxlade, Nasri, etc. He also stated that Real Madrid made attempts to instal him as manager. When? Over a decade ago?
I appreciate many aspects of what Wenger did for the club and during his time we built new training facillities, a new stadium, won trophies, etc. However, post-2006 after Dein and Fiszman had departed I never truly believed in Wenger and his methods anymore and I'm pleased his time has ended and whatever it brings, I am looking forward to next season under Emery.

From what I've read Emery works really hard and expects the same from his players, obviously this will be difficult for some of our players because they became used to a much more relaxed cosy way of life.
I think we will quickly see improvement in terms of commitment paston desire on match days simply by reintroducing physical contact into our training, for some reason Arsene didn't allow the players to tackle each other in training and this lead to our soft Arsenal image where people knew they could bully us our games quite easily.
I think Emery will find lots of little things he can change that will add up to a big difference even before we start spending.

I agree that Emery will get more out of the players that are willing to go along with his methods, others will be moved on.
Cech will get a new lease of life under Emery, with an organised defence and a midfield that will protect the defence.
New signings are reported to be negotiated at present and I would expect at least 3 or 4 before the season starts.

I think we also have to be open to giving a second chance to those players Emery decides to keep even though most of us wouldn't be unhappy to see leave.
Players like Xhaka Iwobi Mustafi could in my opinion leave without even being replaced with new signings and we'd still be a better team without them in it but under Emery maybe some or even all 3 of those players will make me think differently about them this time next year.

You should be excited R. G. as you've hired a top Europa league manager for a Europa league club, he's also been waved off at psg as he spent billions and couldn't get close to winning the champions league and was also sacked at Moscow.

Raver I can see where your coming from mate, get in now before normal service is resumed and I can't fault your plan.
When Emery was announced your heart must have sank as just for a moment a mere wrinkle in time you had the hope of us appointmenting Artetta and with that would have come the possibility of you remaining on the sunny side of the street, but now! You realise your time to fall gracefully back into the shadows is once again about to come, don't be sad my friend at least you had two seasons of sunshine on your face and that's not to be scoffed at when your a spud mate.

His interview, I prefer to win 5-4 than to win 1-0. Mustafi is going nowhere then.
Wenger gave him some good advice,
Feed gunnersaurus twice a day and take lacazete off in the 70th minute😀😀😀.

Raver61 - Emery and Pochettino are the same age. Emery has won 8 trophies as a manager and Pochettino has won 0. Pochettino, an expert in failure is perfect for trophyless Toot. 1961 and waiting. Fast approaching 60 years of abject failure.

Arsene also warned him that if he was to want to study United prior to playing them not to waste his time watching lots and lots of videos of their games because if you've seen one you've seen them all :-)
He also advised him if was going to put himself through that discomfort watching in bed was the best place to do it :-)

I'm telling you guys right now, as soon as this new bloke Emery starts telling us about that time he stole a golf cart and drove it on the motorway because he had the munchies, I'm not taking him seriously any more.

Sharpie😂😂😂 I can't wait for Walter Mitty’s next adventure. 🙄.

25 May 2018 09:40:36
Just what is it about RGs posts that so many people agree with :-)

25 May 2018 12:23:05
G62, in scientific circles it's called multiple personality disorders. In laymans terms, fecking nuts!

25 May 2018 12:51:09
Well all I can say is RG is very very well thought of in those circles Sharpie mate, they can't get enough of him :-)
