Forgive me if I'm wrong but surely a manager decides where he needs to strengthen, the board decides whether funds are available, the scouts report on who is available and passes over to the chief negotiator to agree terms once the manager has chosen who he wants. Why is it that potential new signings are be touted without us having a manager?
Arteta may be an inspired choice although the jury will be out if appointed but I doubt whether the fans will have too much patience. He seems to be a Gazides choice but what does he know about football?
I agree with previous posts that this is an opportunity missed and typical of the real issues which is the ownership of the club which has no idea.

We are not looking for a manager as we know them we are looking for a head coach.
A bit like a head chef who isn't responsible for ordering or chosing the ingredients or chosing the menu just making sure that the food he and his team of chefs send our tastes and looks fantastic so the paying customers are happy and keep coming back.
Most head chefs want to run the kitchen from top to bottom hence our field of chioce is narrowed this time but if it goes well under our new system then it will be much less of a problem in future years attracting bigger name candidates.

Then it's no wonder all the top notch candidates are not interested and we'll end up with a 'yes man'. Doesn't look like will be eating at the top table anytime soon.
