Arteta as Head Coach and Thierry Henry as his assistant? Long shot but i wouldn't mind that at all! In all honesty i'm intrigued to see what Arteta can bring out of our current players. They have been coached wrong and and with a new dynamic i think we will be alright! COYG!

Alex Ferguson is regarded as a great manager, have any of his coaches turned into top managers, any of his ex players even.

Not saying that will always be the case but this club is big enough not to gamble.

Allgeri would get 18 months of indifferent results because of his cv before the out campaign got in full swing against him.
Henry would probably get a season due to the fans love for him regardless of things not improving
Artetta would be under pressure from day one because of the resistance towards him already from many fans and a poor August/ September could see the first banners appear and planes flying over the stadium.
Ideally you want the fans on board because it makes for a better atmosphere and improves the chances of success but it would be a huge mistake to make this popularity competition because if the board try to please the fans by doing what's popular now the fans will soon exonerate themselves from any responsibility and blame the board for all that goes wrong even if it was what they wanted at the time.
The club have to do what they think is right rather than what's popular as it's their only chance of coming out of it well.
Artetta is a high risk punt but Henry would be even higher because he has even less experience and the two together wouldn't work in my opinion as Henry is a main man no a supporting cast member, he has a very good job now and it's a lot to give up to be someone else's assistant.

People like a big name and that's all it really bows down too. You see a big name and think 'We'll be alright, we have Allegri. it will be fine! '. However, that's not always the case. In Arteta you have a man who demands respect and always did as a player. He was a big influence in the dressing room and led the team well in my opinion. You can't say that about any player that we currently have in the squad. He always openly stated that he wanted to be a manager and then when the time was right Pep Guardiola and Mauricio Pochettino both wanted him. A man with no experience wanted by two of the best coaches in the game? That already says something about his knowledge and attitude! In 2014 Arteta was questioned about what he would bring as a manager. His response:

"I will have everyone 120 per cent committed, that's the first thing. If not, you don't play for me. When it's time to work it's time to work, and when it's time to have fun then I'm the first one to do it, but that commitment is vital. "
"Then I want the football to be expressive, entertaining. I cannot have a concept of football where everything is based on the opposition. We have to dictate the game, we have to be the ones taking the initiative, and we have to entertain the people coming to watch us. I'm 100 per cent convinced of those things, and I think I could do it. "

Arteta may not be the big name that everyone wants to see and label as 'ambition' but you know what, I am excited by the prospect of seeing what he can do with the players we have plus a few new additions. It may all go pear shaped but if you want to talk about a perfect candidate based on management style and commitment, then Arteta's not really a bad fit! IF he gets appointed, then let's get behind him, no?

I doubt henry would accept to play second fiddle to Arteta. It says a lot about Henry that despite being one of the best players in the history of the club that the club won't consider him for the top job.

Glenn i see you are buying into the american dream. Lol.

I'm not buying to anything Steve mate. I'm merely saying why would you not back Arteta when he's man enough to step into the job? If the fans are concerned about his morals and what he wants to bring then they shouldn't because he's and ideal fit (albeit on paper) .

Its not about backing, he will be backed at the start of the season. The rest is down to how much and how long they/ we trust him. With him being new, i think the trust time will be less. I know i'm looking on the negative. If he comes in and flies then there will be no problem. The hard bit for him learning is hitting the the right notes straight away with the 5 teams above him now all having battle hardened coaches.

Give him a chance but still get kronke out lol.
