So it’s finally happened, an exciting new future awaits you. Or does it? Given what happened when Fergie retired you have to be very careful what happens next but I actually think it will be good for you and a new man will invigorate the players and see you on the up.

Despite our rivalries I really like Wenger. We’ve often heard about the radical changes he implemented that every other Manager copied and we should thank him for everything he brought to our game. The players he imported, the style of football, as an opposition fan I’m happy to say that for many years you u were a joy to watch. But beyond that, I’ve always respected him; he seems a thoroughly decent human being. Many Managers have said many outrageous things over the years but he always seemed to rise above that nonsense and demonstrated more class than most.

I listened to the tributes to him yesterday and was moved by Bob Wilson who talked emotionally of how supportive Arsene was when his daughter died. Wilson said he was one of the 3 best human beings he had ever known, that’s some tribute.

He probably went on too long and he may have been pushed (rightly) towards the door but the game will be poorer for his leaving. Top man, respect.

AJH, with all respect, this isn't a fergie situation. Totally different scenarios. Fergie was still getting the best out of the club and new when his time was up. What happened after at utd was probably down to fergie being allowed a say in the future of the club. Two different clubs run differently and in different situations for me. If this was twelve years ago, i would be in total agreement.

I've always believed Arsene was a very good man who if we met him on a personal footing away from football we would come away with a very high opinion of.
As for the Fergie comparison the difference is Fergie left United as champions after years and years of prolonged success where unfortunately we and Arsene haven't even challenged for a title for over a decade so the bar is lower initially for our next manager, Moyse taking United to 5th was a total calapse for United while if we finish 5th next season it will be an improvement so there is no real comparison between Fergie and Arsenes later years at United and Arsenal.

Steve, I agree, that’s why I said I thought it would do you good (whereas we seem to have been in chaos for the last 5 years) . It’s a shame Wenger went on so long, it was perhaps time a while ago.
