Staggering reports that we have started negotiating to give Wilshere a new contract by offering him a basic package lower than his current deal. No wonder we have so many players with contracts with less than 24 months to go. Since the departure of Dein back in 2007 and Fiszman the club has been totally dominated by Wenger. We have have been on a slow decline since then with the exception of picking up 3 FA Cups and 3 Community Shileds. On the business side Gazidis has done exceptionally well, but on player acquisitions and contracts we have suffered as these I'm sure have been led by Wenger and have been disasterous on the whole. This summer we could lose 3 of our top players for nothing, a loss if they were under long contracts of over £100m, plus a cost to replace them of at least the same. Indeed, we could spend all of the £300m we have in reserves replacing the trio and adding 3 or 4 additional players that we need. People blame Kronke and the board, butit is Wenger who initiates the club's strategy and they haven't takenthe huge funds out of the club. Perhaps the guilt of Kroenke is confined to allowing Wenger to remain and giving him a free hand. I feel times are changing and with a top four position and a trophy unlikely, this could be the year of change. If Wenger were to depart, despite the many good things he has achieved, I wouldn't want him to stay on as a director nor give his opinion of his replacement . We need a clean sweep and allow a new manager to mange without Wenger's presence. Rant over!

I suspect that Arsenal know that jack bleeds Arsenal and staying is his preferred destination. As much as I'm one of his biggest fans I'm of the opinion that given his return to form the last two months it doesn't given the history of the player grant a pay rise. To offer a lower package would be hard to swallow for him. Most fans on here over the past two years have condemned giving jack a new contract full stop. Now he's a must keep. Fans have also questioned the loyalty of players running down contracts and they have been branded as scum. The same people didn't want jacks loyalty. He will stay he is Arsenal that's how I see it.

We don't know what is being offered. Just paper reports which are usually rubbish. I'd like to think if it's a lower wage the appearance bonuses or whatever will bump it. Haven't we got a new contract negotiator. I swear some of our players are very overpaid so perhaps a lower wage or leave will be best. Although we'd probably have no players at that rate.

I for once agree with the club, he is getting offered a lower basic but performance and availability pay which if he actually plays will be a pay rise. he's milked this club so far in as much as the time he's played to payed.

He's incredibly injury prone.
Wages, depending on minutes on the pitch, is fair.
After all his injuries over the past 6 season's, he should understand Arsenal Football Club's predicament and sign the contract.
