Chelsea did their best to spoil it but ultimately another good night and week for the premier league clubs in the Champions league with all 5 clubs topping their groups at the half way stage.
The premier league desperately needs to re-establish it's self as a force in European football, a champions league Europa league double would do very nicely.

Personally never understood the want of another premier league club to win a European trophy. I hope you wouldn’t be happy if spurs won it!?

If our European performances don't improve soon we won't be able to justify being allowed 4 clubs being in the champions league for much longer, so it's in everyone's interest the premier league clubs do well 16 and as we are the only ones who can see the 4th place trophy it's in our interest a little more than anyone's that the trophy stays in existence.
As for Spurs winning the champions league do I want to see that? No I would much rather it didn't happen but I'd love to see an all premier league Semi finals with Liverpool beating City in the final with any combination of 2 from Chelsea Utd Spurs making up thr losing semi final finalists and the other making the QF.
It would give me no comfort to see all 5 go out in the last 16 just to make us feel better because I want other clubs achievements to inspire Arsenal not them be as poor as us in Europe's elite competition.
It's in every premier league teams interests our clubs do well 16 mate.

I strongly disagree G62. Our domestic rivals do well on the CL then it strengthens them financially and motivates them to hold a stronger possition. For example spurs get to a European semi or god forbid a final or maybe champions they get more money, convince their players to stay and push to the next level, convince top players from around Europe to come to spurs and galvanise the spurs players to hold a superior attitude over Arsenal, also the rankings would go up and make it easier for them and harder for us. And then there's the bragging rights for fans. I want every PL team to go out in disgrace. I know you like to portray the discerning clean thinking gentleman persona G62 but life's not like that.

Without these biter and uncompromising attitudes towards your rivals then football wouldn't be the passionate affair that it is. We're seeing an agenda that is to remove this from football. Sky sports news today have been going on about banter and how they are trying to snuff it out of the game.
