With a heavy schedule this week, including the trip to Bate, I am interested in how we cope with only having 7 fit defenders for the 5 defensive positions. Assuming that we play Wenger's current back five in the two PL matches, who do we play against Bate, without three players playing all three matches in a week.
So in the PL: Bellerin, Mustafi, Koscielny, Monreal and Kolasinac.
Against Bate, we can play Holding and Mertesacker, but with Chambers and Debuchy out injured, we either play 3 of defenders in all three matches or we could play Holding and Mertesacker in two of the matches, resting defenders in the process. RB is a real problem, as the only real alternative to Bellerin is Maitland-Niles who clearly doesn't look comfortable in the RWB role. One questions Wengers decision to sell Gabriel and Oxlade without bringing in replacements. Quite frankly I can't see Debuchy playing for us again, so we have entered the season with only 8 defenders for 5 positions. Imagine we pick up an injury to a defender this week we could be in desperate trouble.

For a second there, I thought someone was actually going to make the trip, then saw all the words and put 2 + 2 together and got 61.

What's done is done there is nothing to be achieved by going over last summers window failures again, we are where we are we have who we have and that's it we've got to simply make the most and best of what we have.
You can give one man a whole supermarket full of food to chose from and he will still insist on serving you up a Cheese sarnie and telling you its a feast while if you limit another man to just the fruit and veg section he will still produce a 3 corse banquet that will leave you both full and happy.
It's more about how you use what you do have rather than complian about what you don't have.
Other sides will use less players than us this season and achieve more just as liecester did 2 years ago and Chelsea did in 2 of the last 3 seasons, go figure :-)

{Ed001's Note - I could just go a cheese butty.....}

Me too Ed I've never been that big on veg myself :-)
Mind you we are Liverpool and Arsenal fans so we've become used to the taste sarnies over the years mate :-)

{Ed001's Note - I just meant that I don't get to eat stuff like that much, the missus always leaves me meals ready when she goes to work, as she knows I would otherwise get too engrossed in work and forget to eat. She is a great cook an all that, but sometimes it would be nice to just have a cheese sarnie, rather than a freshly home cooked meal, don't you agree?}

Mate I fight a constant battle trying to stay away from cheese and opinion sarnies and sausage rolls as I like them both a LOT.
Me and the missus seem to have been watching our weight and trying to eat more healthy for what seems years and years now, I seem to lose 5lb one month then put on 7 the next :- (
Love nice food and enjoy a lot of junk food too unfortunately, but if I had to chose just two things to eat for a year, cheese and Onion sarnies and sausage rolls would be it :-)

Ed001, all my missus can do are cheese sarnies and toasties. Wanna swap?

{Ed001's Note - sounds like a deal to me!}

We can meet at Spinneys in Jumeirah. Under cover of darkness of course. I'll be the 40+ year old gentleman with the Ironman lunch box.
