Hi Dags, this is the enigma of Wenger. On the one hand he seems not to have a clue about the basics of certain aspects of football, for example playing players out of position, LB's at CB and yet he has been a tremendous asset to Arsenal. During his tenure at the club we have had new training facilities, a new state of the art stadium. We have won League titles, 7 FA Cups, 2 domestic doubles, Community Shileds, Champions League final, etc. Over a 20 year period only the likes of Chelsea, Man U and Man C have mateched or bettered our record and yet he is heavily criticised.
If he were to leave replacing him would extremely difficult. If we could have Mourinho at the helm, losing him wouldn't be a huge blow.
In conclusion if only he pushed the boat out to make a couple of top signings to launch a proper challenge for the title, we all would believe him a tad more.

It's been a very long time since I found Arsene to be in any way inspirational as a manager, nothing that he does or says makes me think " hang on that's exciting "
I've heard him critise other clubs for how they go about things, I've heard him critise fans even the board but have not heard him say anything interesting for a very long time, sadly.

Raver61 oh dear, you haven't had a manager that has been anywhere near as successful as Wenger, including Bill Nicholson and hence you wouldn't understand. A small and rather simple task for you to do before your do your school homework, list the trophies won by Wenger at Arsenal and those won by all your managers during Wenger's time at the club. You will now realise what a failure the toot have been since 1996 when Wenger took over at Arsenal, never mind the George Graham era when we won lots more trophies. To think the sole thing you crow about is that you finished above us once in Wenger's time at Arsenal and even then we lifted two trophies! Before yu make an inane comment about the Community Shield you have to win the League or Cup to qualify to play in it, so you wouldn't ahve a clue about it as you haven't won either in your short lifetime. As you well know the pain at the lane and Wembley just goes on. 1961, 56 years of abject failure.
