wow I think some people like to be cynical just the sake of it, Steve how did Xhaka just pass sideways when he attempted 14 long passes in the game, more than any other player. it's not like he and Ramsey dominated Chelsea and Kante for the second time in less than 3 months. just admit you'll never give Xhaka credit and wanna be proven right instead of peddling ridiculous arguments.

I don't judge on pre season friendlies I'm sorry. In that respect a waste of time. I want s to challenge for the league, We won't with players like xhaka.

Dondo I won't give xhaka credit until he actually does something. I don't think he's good enough and I think that he will prove that this season. He proved it last and people still think he's going to " improve " Well when "he" does I and millions of others will I'm sure. Just my opinion because i want the best. I don't like hangers on and we have a few of them, that's why we finished where we did. If all these great players people go on about at arsenal were that good, we may actually put a title challenge in.

I think Steve made a very good point that outside some Arsenal fans no one rates Xhaka, both Ed 001 and Ed025 have said they don't think he's anything special and I personally haven't spoke to any non Arsenal fans who rate him.
Some times what we want to see and those special Arsenal glasses can cloud our opinions.
When we start getting bids for Xhaka that are above the 34 million we paid then I don't think there can be too much argument about him, if Chelsea Utd City Barcelona Real start showing interest the doubters will have been proven wrong but until then we will have to agree to disagree I guess.

Xhaka was not good for most if last season, no dispute. He was good to end the season and i stand by my original post. He will be excellent this seaaon and people will eat their words, or, at least, find something else to have a whinge about. Some people on here could be drinking ale, but still be having a whine. It's so boring.

Out back you find opinion boring, I find rose tinted glasses ideal boring but that's just the way it is. A spade is a spade to me not a top of the range rotavator.

I personally think he looked good since we changed formation and was very impressive Sunday. I remember before we got him I'm sure ed002 said Bayern was keen on him. Season or two before I think it was. Each to their own but I don't think he's as bad as some people are making out.

I don't think the issue is if Xhaka is good enough or not, i think its more a case that as usual we bought the wrong player to fill a role which is not natural to him. Xhaka is not a DM, never was, and never will be, as he can't tackle and doesn't track back. What he does do well is keep and distribute the ball as an attacking force, just like he does for his country. The problem is you partner him in CM with Ramsey and its just too lightweight against the very best in the league, and it exposes our CB's. Personally i will give him the benefit of the doubt for 1 more season but i would like to see him pushed further forward and partnered with a decent top notch physical DM, such as a Mutuidi, Carvahhlo or Kongdogbia.
