Friendly or not. As Wenger basically said before the game this friendly ain't no friendly. I know it's early days but come on so far what I've seen of Al Lacca isn't filling me with excitement.
Before anyone starts moaning you've got to admit he's been pretty absent so far. He's going to have to make some rapid improvements in the next few weeks. Maitland- Niles passing has been shocking I'll leave it at that with him.
We look very poor bordering on putting in performances that wouldn't be out of place in the Championship league or even league 1. We were given a real right roasting today.
I wonder what Sanchez was thinking? Actually it's sickening to look at our squad.
How are we supposed to convince any World class players to transfer over?
Our squad is pathetic. The transfer window closes in 5 and a half weeks. Christ we've got our work cut out!

I get a bit of stick about my thoughts on arsenal fc but even I can't have opinions on pre season friendlies, I have my opinions when it's more serious. They are getting fit and that is all.

Posted something similar during the game - that performance wasn't going to convince anyone to stay or join. Yes we had kids but no shape in defence and no idea up front. It's going to be a long season unless we sort the spine of the side out.

The sickness bug through the camp didn't affect the players at all I guess then, we beat Bayern Munich and you say nothing we lose to Chelsea and then you comment! Lol.

F#ck me. Give the guy a chance. AL had some poor touches, but you can't criticise him when he had no supply. Like them all be was sloppy/ rusty generally, but i didn't see him get a decent pass/ chance. He's getting used to the used to the team and working hard. Seen some nice skill in tight situations against bvb.
As for our squad being pathetic Lanesra. Fans are also called supporters for a reason! Do you think Huddersfield fans are slagging their own team off before the session starts? The fans played a big part in arsenal not getting the most out of games over the past couple of seasons.
We're still doing my single biggest hate - getting to the edge of opposition box then slowing down and passing around the box. Fine sometimes but i thought they had learnt to mix it up playing quick balls in to the box regardless of there but being the perfect pass on. Too predictable. Essential we mix it up or bus-parkers and to teams will find it too easy to hit us on the counter.
I wasn't impressed at all with the team for most of the game. All basically too sloppy with their first touch and not chasing down quickly enough. Time and again the receiver lost the ball. Hoping it's preseason rustiness and I'd rather it was now than start of the season, but don't know why Chelsea n looked so much sharper?
I thought coq and a couple of the young guys did well late in the second half though.
Giroud had a few very good chances, some he created to be fair - showing the frustration with him as he missed then all.
Still very early, and as always, Sanchez would have given the energy/ drive catalyst we need to even start to look dangerous, but back 4 with wide players crossing more often really might be with trying more often. If not, wing backs have got to not fanny around and put the f*cking ball in the box.

Oh yea. Thought Ramsey was showing the drive to get in the box that could mean he is really important to us this season to give us another route into the box and gets on to double digits again, or that we're exposed at the back and hit on the counter. Not totally dependent on him off course. Really hope it's the former.

Gunnerbod. Sorry mate maybe I should have explained myself more clearly. I thought I would wait until the END of
the friendlies until I had an opinion of what I have seen so far. That's WHY I didn't state MY opinion otherwise there wasn't a lot of point. You can't have an opinion after the first friendly game can you? or maybe you can anyway,
From what 'I ' have seen so far and in MY opinion we ain't going to be no Champions League position contenders unless a miracle happens in the next 5 and a half weeks.
I'm sure behind the scenes at Arsenal they are frantically working away on ideas on who to buy etc. etc.
Friendlies ARE as quite rightly said by 62 about getting fit and trying out players. But you must remember we are trying out the players for our team selections for next season we are NOT trying out players we are never going to play. So on that basis and in MY opinion we are pretty weak all over the pitch. As it is so far we have signed one marquee player that's it! maybe we lose Sanchez, probably will. So we are back to square one again.
If Arsenal are not careful we will end up with Lacazette being in the Sanchez situation where everyone will be putting all their faith in him to work miracles on the pitch and the rest of them are just there for the ride.
I'm a 55 year Arsenal supporter mate. Don't you think I want to see them do great things? of course I do.
I've spent 1000's watching and supporting them I lived a 20 minute walk to the ground. As a kid in the early 70s we use to WALK into the ground on a Sunday morning and sit on the bench when they were training after the Saturday game and speak to the players. YES you read right. we use to walk through the gate at Highbury on Sunday morning and sit in the dug out and nobody use to bat an eyelid. As we got older we use to go to a pub in Southgate and have a drink with them. Where I lived in Islington Arsenal was like a big family to all us kids. So when it's suggested I'm having a moan YES too right I'm having an effing moan. I'm entitled too.

Every opinion is valid mate. Mine is that we should try and be realistic and constructive or we give players a hard time unfairly and it's not enjoyable for anyone. I agree we looked shoddy compared to Chelsea, i just don't think it is fair to say AL isn't looking good when he's had about 180 minutes of game time, scored a goal and had virtually no service in the Chelsea game.
Honestly, i thought we were rubbish, and was just hoping it didn't knock the players confidence for the start of the season or sew any doubts.

So in short -, it's a friendly. Chelsea looked like title contenders especially as they played a proper side. We however played kids and showed very little to get excited about. In fact showed all the weaknesses we have shown over the past 10 years. So, we need to get that catalyst of change ignited as the season starts soon and we don't look ready yet.
To sort - organise bloody defence ( noted we only played 1 real CB at a time against CFC) , sort entire midfield out so we win possession more effectively and move the ball firward quicker. Attack AL needs time and service. Need to return to the fast attacks we used to do with Pires, Henry and Freddie! Shot and move to create space - don't give the opposition time to get 8 behind the ball.
Lots to do and short time to do it.
