Eds . With AW saying Alexis is going nowhere at the moment and won't be sold to City but if he digs his heels in, am I right in thinking he can talk to any club from Jan 1st 2018? And if so what do you think will happen then.

Paul.

{Ed002's Note - He could talk to clubs outside of England and Wales. In May he could talk with English and Welsh clubs.}

Wenger is playing his cards cannily. If Sanchez has to stay for the remainder of his contract, he will be in his 30th year of age when he starts looking for a new club in January 2018. Although a new club wouldn't have to pay a transfer fee, he is still likely to demand wages in the region of £350,000 per week for a long term deal of say 5 years, costing a club approximately £90m, with little hope of a future sell on transfer fee. As far as Sanchez is concerned, Man City may not be prepared to wait a year to sign him and he will lose out on a wage increase for the forthcoming season as he will remain on his current wages, which I believe are approx £7m per year. If his new deal is at say £300,000 per week with Arsenal, he would earn an extra £8.6m.
From Arsenal's point of view, if he stays without extending his deal, we lose out on the reported transfer fee of £50m and we have a player who wants out.
Perhaps Wenger's opening gambit is to show that Arsenal are not desperate and try to raise the fee City are likely to pay us.

Im interested to know, seeing that not many, if any teams would buy and pay sanchez for arguments sake £ 400,00. If we offered him a new deal for two years of the said amount, it would cost us 10 mil ish a year. I don't think its all about money for sanchez but it would give both sides a bit of breathing space and a compromise. Just a thought.

sanchez doesn't want 400k imo. he is just pricing himself out of arsenal talks.

But surely derby he does want that money (probably) because bayern have dropped out because they can't afford him. Whatever he wants he wants to play for a team that has ambition and with that rewards. Signings and changes show everyone that. Keeping sanchez, signing top players and showing strength is what all players want to see who want to win. Selling and giving in is not.

I think steve if we say ok we have accepted citys bid he will sign for around 300k a week no more.

Derby surely he must sign for city for the same or more than we have offered. He hasn't fallen out with anyone. I don't personally see him signing for less money, I don't get that.

I obviously don't know what we have offered himm the 440 k was for devilment. But surely he will leave for more money.

well steve we have offered around 300k him asking for 400k is either bull or him making him too pricey so he doesn't sign. will city pay him 400k a week. no mate.
