Just read Arsenal will have to get rid of several players to pay sanchez and ozil's wages as not to break premier league rules. The 1st name on the list is the Ox which i would be gutted about losing as the improvement over the last 6 months was great to see, he was playing really well and in different position's, me personally i would like to see the coq go as we have more than enough centre midfielder's and also theo as he just hasn, t reached his potental. But my gut feeling his Ox will be sold and then sanchez will leave as well so loosing 2 good players.

{Ed025's Note - arsenal have plenty of money to pay wages russ, and would it be the worst thing in the world to lose the ox? hes overrated for me and injury prone and the best thing for him and arsenal would be to part ways but of course thats just my opinion mate..

Wages per week, Gibbs £60,000, Mertesacker £70,000, Wilshere £100,000, Walcott £110,000, Jenkinson £45,000, Debuchy £70,000, Giroud £100,000, Coquelin £45,000, Perez £70,000 Campbell £30,000 and the Ox £65,000.

Walcott, the Ox and Giroud are not what you'd calling genuine regular first choice players and the rest minimal appearances.

That's in excess of £800,000 per week.

There is scope for movement and increase in wages where needed.

The trick is finding buyers for some of the above.

I agree Ed025 it would be best for both parties if the Ox moved on, I think the same for Ramsey too.

{Ed025's Note - i agree G62, they have gone a bit stale for me and i would include theo as well who always flatters to deceive...new broom and all that mate..

If I understand correctly we can't increase our wage bill by more than £7m, if we do it must be from increased through revenue derived from activities that exclude TV revenue. Hence, I understand, although I don't agree that player such as Ox have to be sacrificed. In Ox's case his could raise £25m, plus he may want a new deal at high wages, putting a strain on the wage increase limit. Whereas if we sell Coquelin, we may get say £10m and save far less in wages. The idiocy of this wage increase cap, is that teams wll pay the top players high wages and the squad players far less than they currently get. So Sanchez may get £300,000 a week, but to balance this squad players will earn considerably less and good experienced pros will get derisory wages or will be sacrificed for young inexperienced lower paid youngsters.

How do united city Chelsea get over these rules RG? Their wage bills far exceed ours? If they can get round this issue I'm sure we and others can do so equally if we really wanted to.
So it's not really a problem unless we chose to make it one in which case it becomes an excuse rather than a problem.

Hi G62, I presume they sell or loan players out. Hence why Man City have just realeased Sagna, Clichy, etc.

24 Jun 2017 11:40:47
I agree with 62 its scaremongering again.

Rather sell walcott than oxlade.

I don't see Gibbs being sold. We only have Kolasinac and Gibbs in the LB/ LWB position. Wenger sees Monreal playing as a LCB in a 3 man defence, he said that a couple of weeks ago.
Gibbs isn't a bad option to have as back up.

24 Jun 2017 18:13:05
The ox didn't do to badly as LWB against Chelsea and on the right there's Bellerin who can be by Chambers (if he stays) , Mustafi, Gabriel, and Holding (and the ox) so I don't see the problem. Might be wrong but think Holding even played on the left in bolton so even he could fill in on that flank not to mention if Kolasinac or Monreal got injured there's a ton of cb's inthe squad that could fill the LCB position.

I think if we are offered the right money, gibbs giroud and the ox will be sold. We will bin debauchery and jenkinson. Perez and cambell will depart as well.

G62, regarding club wage bills:
Arsenal = £ 200.5 million
Chelsea = £218 million
Man United = £220.8 million
Man City = £225 million

I would not say this "far exceeds ours".

Agree again Ed025 mate, it's like any working environment once less than top standard has been accepted for a period of time even if the reason was understandable and acceptable at the time getting all the same old faces to collectively accept higher expectations of themselves and each other again is extremely difficult and only human nature to get used to lower performance as the norm, in our case a top 4 us success attitude.
If you decide to keep the same boss the only other option is to freshen up your staff and bring in people who have a less comfortable attitude and are extremely hungry for top class success.
