Ed,

I know there have already been comments on the subject, but can you address the Ushmanov bid? Likelihood of success? How serious is he? Could there be a second bid?

We have as owners two of the richest men in the world, yet some how, we don't have the ressources to go for world class players.

Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - It is simple. An offer has been made to SK but it has been declined. I am not sure how you associate the wealth of the owners with Arseal not buying the "world class" players you want.}

Agree1 Disagree0

Arsenal alex, it isn't that we don't have the resources to buy top players, it is against Wenger's beliefs to run a football club in such a manner and Kroenke to his credit allows his manager a free hand in such issues. i'm sure if Wenger asked for say £200m to send on players, then the club would come forth.

It's going to be one of the most if not the most pivotal summers in the clubs history. Stan is not far behind abramhovic in the billionaire stakes and usmanov is 4 billion richer than abramhovich their combined wealth is far superior to the Chelsea owner and slightly above city's owner (although the city owners family wealth dwarfs the lot ) so with things as they are it's a case of does kronke allow Wenger free reign of the company debit card? Or does Wenger have it but not use it? Is the company debit card only for ranches and American football stadiums. Are we an investement or are we a play thing. The way it is seen in general is that for kronke it's good business and for usmanov it's billionaire bragging rights. He has the worlds biggest yacht does he want to have the worlds biggest club? I think he does and if he's serious he will make an offer Stan can't refuse and walk away with his held high knowing that in the business world he's done good business! As it stands there is no point usmanov throwing money at the club because he has no say and any sucsess from that would increase club value and make it a more expensive purchase.

For me and for most of the fans, kronke is not in it for football reasons, uzminov is. Sy said he didn't want a billionaire owner running our club, well we have one already and he's not bothered about football issues, he's not an arsenal fan, he's an arsenal worth fan. The other billionaire wants success at arsenal on the field. Not a statement that has ever come out of kronks mouth.

It's definitely a pivotal moment, if we don't make Champions League and we do lose the likes of Sanchez how easy will it be to get back in the top 4 as United have found.

Does what is a £2 billion club become worth less because of the above. Is now as good a time as any to sell whatever we hear right now from Kroenke.

He knows Usmanov's worth and that within reason he can go higher. Does it also bring as yet unknown potential buyers into the equation.

We now not only wait on Wenger but Kroenke as well. I guess it will tell us how serious Usmanov is too.

My initial excitement is now back down to a heavy sigh!

Your right steve the pair are worth 21 billion between them.

20 May 2017 19:05:25
I'm with you 100% Stoner, we wait on either or both Arsene and Stan to leave Arsenal before anything of note is going to change.
Unfortunately the odds are not looking good on either so it's pretty much as we were.

20 May 2017 19:38:05
I agree we all know the outcome but maybe uzminov does have another ace up his sleeve. We live in hope.

Both are billionaires but like Ed states - why is that linked to Arsenal's spending power. Both have a philosophy of a club spending within their own means. Why should owners invest like cuty and Chelsea? I can't stand owners like that as they turn the EPL into a playground for the rich.?

Usinov (spelling ) sounds like he would demand more, have more interest and would have financed the stadium debt very differently but doesn't sound like he would throw the needed 500m to sort the squad out over the next 3 years.

I am happy wit him the guy running the club but want our values to remain but set higher expectations on the manager

That's my point Steve.

{Ed002's Note - Owners are restricted in the amount of money they can give to clubs beyond what the club earns.}

Interesting quotes from AW

"Of course we can need help to become better. I am always open to open that. I am always open to things that improve the quality and the future of the club. After that, you have to see if it’s really efficient because the titles do not always make you better. ”.

20 May 2017 21:35:49
Titles don't make you better?
Have I read that right SY?
Does he mean giving people titles or other clubs winning titles?

20 May 2017 21:56:09
Sy you are stuck in the past. Clubs are not run like that anymore, they have to balance the books like every one. It hoe you spend it that's the secret.

20 May 2017 22:04:20
Ed how did that work for Chelsea and city when they were first purchased. Both far smaller clubs than arsenal are now and tiny revenues in comparison but still spent ridicules amounts on players! Are the laws different now? Not bitching just wanting clarification because Chelsea were a top half club and city were a yoyo club spending as much time in the championship.

{Ed002's Note - Chelsea were in the Champions League when Mr A purchased the club. Arsenal were then and remain valued higher than both clubs. FFP came in some years ago. I have no idea why you are whining. Arsenmal are more than comfortably off and yet you want to make it about someone else - it is embarrassing.}

20 May 2017 22:17:45
Steve - have old fashioned values but know the world changes. If you stand still.

62 - hopefully it's job titles which makes sense.

20 May 2017 22:24:28
Sy its not the old fashioned values but the ideas about sugar daddies that's old fashioned. Clubs have to balance the books whoever owns them. Its how the club is run that is the secret.

20 May 2017 22:53:48
I do apologise ed. I did state that I wasn't bitching in my comment I was hoping that you would inform me as I didn't have a clue as to how things work mate. Sorry if it was unclear in my post 👍🏻.

{Ed002's Note - Don't worry. The bottom line is that FFP came in to try and level the playing field but there is so much additional money in the EPL now it doesn't help too much.}

20 May 2017 23:08:59
Thanks SY mate I'm sure you're right, but the fact we have to even consider he might have meant the other option says a lot about the stuff Arsene comes out with, he's no stranger to own unique take in what amounts to success or even a trophy come to that :-)

20 May 2017 23:25:52
62 - I had to read the title bit twice as initially I was hung up on titles and "wtf"! Ha ha :)

Will the fourth star be shining on us tomorrow or will she turn her back as we don't appreciate her or have relied on good fortune once too often 🤞.

Nearly all big business have big loans in one way or another, that's how it works, you borrow to go forward. Its nothing new.
