Guys,

As a Celtic fan I'd ask a question regarding what defines a "Big Club" and do Arsenal actually regard themselves as one ?

All big clubs are regarded as such because they regularly win or come close their domestic leagues every season.

All big clubs regularly do well in Champions League and are always considered among the favourites.

All big clubs have a low tolerance with managers who don't win league titles as that allows them to always improve their squad and bring in world class players.

Would Barca, Real, Bayern, Man Utd, Juve or any other"world class team" recruit a manager and say to him, don't worry about winning the league. as long as we are 4th or better that'll be fine. .

I'm sorry guys but with the prices you pay, your stadium and in my opinion the name of Arsenal Football Club, that's not good.

What could you achieve. You'll nevery know till you try it. never know, it you might actually win the league again.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi mate we are a huge club in terms of therms of English but we just don't have huge ambitions.
In terms of European football we have never been huge but are bigger than most and for us its been all about the taking part rather than actively settings out our stall 100% committed to having a go at winning the champions league.
I'm not sure how much longer our club can continue to be a huge club with small ambition or how much more of a stomach our fans have for watching it continue but in my opinion what ever happens between now and next season starting is going to have a very big bearing on what we become over the next decade or maybe much longer
The club have a huge decision to make and a massive responsibility to an awful lot of people to get it right.
No more pleasing people be it shareholders manager players or sets of fans we need to start putting what's best for Arsenal again rather not upsetting individuals or even groups of individuals.

Arsenal of course are a big club with a lot of history I'd also say Celtic are a giant in Scotland as they once were in Europe . Your support is superb and will always win more top flight trophies than we ever will but of course that is to do with the weak league you play in .

We are in danger of having one of the most state of the art stadiums in the world but with a poor team in it .

As a Celtic fan defining big is very difficult as in Scotland I'm sure you consider Celtic as a big club. But if you compare the standard of your club it is on a level of a decent team in the championship, Leeds or maybe Newcastle . Now that is not really the fault of your club as the Scottish premiership has teams ranging from championship level (Celtic) to Sunday league level.

It was a shame that rangers got sent to the bottom of your football teir (school boy level) as it ruined the only glimmer of anything decent. So to answer your question we are not on the same level like Barcelona or real and united to that fact but we are in the top three prestigious clubs in the EPL but we are in a downward motion and need to sort it out . Hope that helps.

I think if Celtic were to join the English league system they would certainly be premier league and top half at that, they are a huge British club it's just their league doesn't require them to have a brilliant team to win it or offer the financial rewards of the premier league to attract players that would allow them to compete in the champions league regularly.
Given the premier league multi millions Celtic would make it a big 8 rather than big 7 of Arsenal Chelsea's City Everton Liverpool Spurs and Utd currently, thier support is huge and as passionate as any out there.

Their support is huge but the standard is championship.

Sanogo this current celtic team is a lot better than championship level. If they were to be moved into the premier league, no doubt their billionaire owner Desmond would spend adequately to have them even more competitive, I have no doubt they'd be top half at this moment in time.

I don't see it red! Their top players either sign for a top championship side or mid table premiership side at best and they are the clubs best players. Also more often than not they get put of of the champions league in the preliminary rounds by some team from who knows where!

12 Apr 2017 16:44:02
I would have said the exact same thing of Leicester last year Sanogo and we all know what happened there.

Collectively, this celtic team is a very good team. And I'm talking about the current celtic team. They might have had to qualify to get into the champions league beating teams you don't know, but that's not their fault. They got put into a very difficult group and did quite well actually considering their budget etc.

And like I said, if in the premiership then the cheque book would surely be opened up.

There's to many ifs, buts and maybes in your testimony for me red. The use of Leicester as an example is like saying hens teeth exist because you found a tooth in a chickens stomach. More often than not they don't get through the qualifying rounds and until I see something better on a more consistent basis I can only give the opinion that they are a very average side in a very awful league.

Celtic are Scottish they will never play in the prem. Scottish football is a lower grade than the prem in all and that's it. At this moment in time they are the best team in scotland, like the best team in Wales and Ireland. They are massive in scotland and that's it. We are a big club with limited ideas and are basically the fourth best at best team in England. Are we a big club? In revenue yes, in ambition for trophies, no.

But you have to go back to previous years to justify your argument. The question was, if celtic were in the premiership, could they make it a top 8. I believe that this CURRENT celtic team would do very well in the premiership. To say they are championship when they have just done quite well in the champions league is absurd.

Leicester proved anything can happen in the premiership regardless of how youd like to put it.

I actually believe celtic on current form would put away arsenal quite easily.

We're a big club steve make no bones about it.

13 Apr 2017 11:53:13
Sorry red I just don't buy it. I'm talking about the current Celtic side and they hardly had a great season in the champions league. A team currently struggling in the prem is in the quarters and narrowly lost against a top top side. Celtic would have lost that 4 or 5 nil.

I heard the same argument for years and it's laughable in my opinion. But there you go it depends how you look at it but you won't find any facts out there to support what you say. Top players of Celtic or should I say celtics top players have moved to the championship time and again because it's a better league than the SPL. So if you can't convince the players what your saying how you ever going to convince me.
