I did ask this on someone's thread but can't see where it has gone. I'm seeing arsene linked with jobs next season like psg and Barca. Even a Chinese club offering him 30m year. My question is how is a manager who in all honesty a lot of us criticise so much and make out to be totally useless getting linked with such huge jobs. I can't imagine it's on past achievements.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think people think Arsene might just be to close to the wood at Arsenal to see the trees, well to close to his players at Arsenal at least.
I actually think a fresh start away from Arsenal might see the return of Arsenes competitiveness and very much the same for Arsenal without Arsene.
A change is long overdue for both parties.

Managers get" linked" whatever that is to all sorts of jobs, its usually media punditry and not always a lot of substance. I think wenger would be a hit in china but I don't see it being the case with the bigger clubs in europe at all.

Yes, we criticise Wenger, but he is still one of the top managers in world football. Since he took over at Arsenal, many fans are too young to have remembered another manager and fail to realise the achievements he has been part of during his time at the club: State of the art training facilities, a new stadium, 3 Premier League titles, 6 F A Cups, 6 Community shields. He has given us continual Champions League football. He has given us financial profitability and stability. If he leaves I have no doubt that he will turn up at one of Europe's top clubs, possibly PSG, Real or Barca. We will find him extremely difficult to replace. So please don't underestimate this amazing man and what he has done for Arsenal, English football and what he still has to offer to football.

I think you have hit the nail on the head G62. He his highly rated and I think it has just gone stale at arsenal.

All very good points. RG61 brilliant post. I still want him as our manager next reason. But I do worry I want that more for sentimental reasons. I started getting into the game when I was 8 in 1996. Arsene is literally the only manager I've known us to have.

16 mate we all have sentimental attachments when Charlie George went I was totally gutted the same with Adams Wrighty Henry and don't get me started on Denis Bergkamp, was unbelievably gutted when he retired.
But that's football managers and players do leave either for pastures new or they go stale or age simply catches up with them.
There will be players in the future we debate about wether Bergkamp and Henry were better or not and thier will be another captain like big Tony and thier will be a manager we will debate if he or Arsene was the best we've ever had, if the new man lands us champions league premier league double I'm sure we will be very much split between the INVINCIBLES or the greatest double possible was the biggest achievement :-)

Very true gunner 62. I was gutted when bergkamp went as well! Also remember being a boy and being gutted when wrighty left! Or feeling betrayed and angry at Henry got s few days lol. All part of the beautiful game.

On another note everyone I saw arsene was saying today he wants to stay and reinvent himself at Arsenal and change the way he is. Wonder if that's too late to do that.

My personal view is a new contract for Arsene would be a 100% putting Arsene before Arsenal and a contract to far for many fans
I appreciate all Arsene has done for the club but only Arsene the players who would be highly likely to be let go by a new manager and the fans who are unable to any longer distinguish between Arsene and Arsenal really think Arsene could reinvent himself at Arsenal, elsewhere where he would need to deliver and would be accountable again? maybe but not at cosy Arsenal where he can continue to dine out on the past seemingly endlessly.

02 Mar 2017 23:04:45
Very true. I do agree maybe it's time for him to leave. But if he stays I won't be throwing my arms around complaining il be getting behind him. If he truly plans on changing he has until the end of the season to show us by changing tactics even needed and someone if possible giving the players s better mentality than they seem to have. Personally I think it'll be too late.

Good points.
But there is a lot of comments about Arsene needs to change if he is to stay. Change to what I'm asking? .
If it is that he needs to change to improve things then why hasn't he done that over the last few years? .
I'm sure he believes he is doing what's right .
Maybe he has! gone stale as someone pointed out.
Look we have a major problem as I see it.
We lose top players and we cannot secure players because we will not be drawn into paying the inflated wage or transfer demands. To be honest I agree with. On the other hand that leaves us hanging out to dry. Sanchez leaves we haven't got what I would call a player that would attract a world class player to join us and to top that up we don't know if Arsene is staying or leaving.
It's all a bit confusing for anyone considering Arsenal as their next destination. Personally I think that the air has to be cleared well before the season ends with what is going on with Arsene. That way the club can move forward. There is too much cloak and dagger and speculation which I feel is harmful in the long run.

A new broom is needed to clear away the top 4 above Spurs mentality within the club, Arsene has it mosf of the players have it (those that don't are looking to get out) the boardroom has it and 50% of the fans have it.
Mertesacker getting a new contract says it all in my opinion, all mates together doing just enough to keep enough people happy to continue as always.
The big problem they have is almost all of the pundits and media are now questioning Arsenes capabilities and Arsenal football club ambition like never before the club is under the spotlight like never before and if we either miss out on top 4 or finish below Spurs both of which look extremely possible then it's going to be relentless Arsene and Arsenal bashing like never before.
Change has to come the only question is how long people can fight it off for.
