Greetings and Salutations my fellow Gooners,

So the first game came and went and the frustration that has been simmering around the club has seemingly come out after our defeat.

For me yesterday provided consensus that we are short in experience amongst our centre backs. Holding and Chambers didn't in my opinion play poorly but there were moments that a more seasoned centre back duo i felt would have been more apt to handle the change in momentum after the second goal.

Up front I felt that Sanchez was very isolated and for me a lot of that had to do with Ramsey who I feel is a strong box to box but is not a conductor on the pitch. Fortunately we should expect to see Ozil back in the near future.

Theo despite his miss i thought played reasonably well and with Ramsey and Iwobi injured it may be better to play him up front, Sanchez in his normal spot on the left and Chamberlain on the right.

I felt the real error yesterday was the duo of Elneny and Coquelin. I feel that Coquelin serves a very specific game plan and yesterday I felt we would have been better served with Xhaka and Elneny behind Ramsey. Again it is easy to say otherwise in hindsight but I felt when we fell behind Coquelins limitations were highlighted.

Tactics were a gamble and for this Arsene must take accountability. He gambled on two inexperienced centre half backs and for 45 minutes it looked ok, but once the gates opened his decision came back and bit him squarely. I personally believe it would serve Arsene well to acknowledge his mistakes instead of giving reasons which have become stale to the supporters.

Fans for me need to calm down. I know there is a growing frustration, partly because of Arsenes own perceived arrogance but the level of vitriol towards him lacks dignity. He's not going anywhere this year and if this is a prelude to our fans behaviour this is going to be a very long season. We lost, let's handle defeat better both by the Manager and the Fans.

The window is still open and I think we are constrained more by our budget then are we are being told. However with that being said at minimum we need a CB and ideally a CB and Striker would serve us well this campaign.

Looking forward to week 2 where I believe we will right the ship with a strong performance, Arsene seems to do well when he is written off the most and I expect this to be the case this week!

Hi gunner

We've been posting on here for years and you have supported Wenger through thick and thin

Are you still trying to tell me you are still 100% behind Wenger after 12 years of failure

How long more are you prepared to give Wenger before you say enough is enough.

15 Aug 2016 23:13:10
Ehst happened to the old malaga that gave us signings coming In now he has turnt into I hate Wenger.

15 Aug 2016 23:15:16
Malaga I can't think of a manager anywhere in the world that could carry on getting away with mistake after mistake and people still won't or can't see the guy is a liability.

15 Aug 2016 23:31:43
Bristol I don't hate Wenger

I just want a new manager.

A man that does not through his toys out when he does not get his way. Wenger is not required to win anything by the owners once the owners demand more wenger will deliver for which they will pay for.
Can u imagine if xhaka got red carded in the 1st 20 minutes.

I have been pro-Wenger for 20 years now

The board have always had the same penny pinching mentality now it's more noticeable plus we have more competition

If Wenger had spent 1bn like City - I am sure he would win the league or the Chelsea money.

Give him the funds to do his job - if he was not doing his job the BOARD would fire him. Like they did Rioch and Graham.

For the love of god please look at our accounts and compare actual cash to cash available then look at how we have more cash due to season ticket sales then look at current liabilities to see what we have to spend. Look at the 6 month accounts and the lack of profit we made, then look at what has increased cash over the last 10 years. Player and real estate sales.

We need a new business model not a new manager

Wenger deserves the right to manage with funds and he still has the same skill set and desire to win.

Too old to manage! What a load of rubbish. Look at Fergie or the GB rowing coach. Experience comes with age.

Do we have issues - yes

Do we all want them sorted - yes

Is the board who are there to Act in the interest of the club and investors at fault - yes

Is Wenger partly to fault - absolutely but be careful what you wish for

Would pep manage with our budget or the special one - hell no

Is Klopp an upgrade - hell no, he almost got his last side relegated. His team were ignorant yesterday and lucky to hold on to A 4 1 lead! Lucky they had a very special player to dig them out of a whole. He was the difference not the manager.

Well said Gunner.

I have a simple wuestion for you SY4, if Wenger is as special as he is made out to be, and the board have given him very little financial freedom, why did he not leave? He is a good coach and good offers from big clubs would have flown in

Here's my opinion:
The board and major shareholder know nothing about football. Wenger is pretty much in charge of all that happens including the financial model. The board are more than happy to let Wenger conduct his little experiment as long as he doesn't run into losses. Abramovich was at the game yesterday, you could see that besides being a club owner, he is a fan of football. Kroenke is not that. He doesn't care about soccer. So am sure he is chaffed to have Arsene, who is trying to be football's Rocky Balboa but is failing badly so far.

Well said Rue.

16 Aug 2016 09:21:58
So Rue, you have supported my point - the board is accountable. They are the board who will be there long past AW and responsible for the overall philosophy of the club. Nevel was right - for Klopp et al a top 4 finish is good but for Wenger it's not because we always finish in top 4. The boy talks sense and we should be careful what we ask for as with our resources, top 4 is a good finish. Like it or not but a small company cannot compete with IBM or Coke or Unilever or Apple.
I don't hold Wenger out to be god - check my posts but the Wenger outs need to be careful as he has worked wonders over the years. The club have had their second poor window and DO have a lot to answer for but I don't think Wenger's head is the right answer
I have not heard of a decent replacement - pep would want too big a budget, Klopp is not an upgrade, Simeone doesn't play our brand of football.
Like top top players - they want a club with ambition. What Henry said will be true for the manager spot. Think about it.

And yoy say i'm boring. Wow. At least I back up what I say and you knock me for being one sided. Talk about pot and kettle.

Rue excellent post and all relevant and true.
