Wenger says players were not ready after the euros. He is among the best paid managers in the world. Yet he spends most of the summer working as a pundit for French TV when he could of been scouting, identifying and contacting players across the world. I also remember him chatting rubbish on euro goals a few summers back. He works for ARSENAL a top club. I couldn't imagine fergie, mourinho or pep doing such. Then he gets rid of Henry for doing the same at u18 level.
I'm sorry this is getting beyond a joke now!

That's bad management by any standards. It did not take a rocket scientist to know France Germany and Chile would be playing late into the summer. To not sign badly needed players early so they could have a pre season and get to know the system is poor. The team selection was also puzzling should have started the ox and carzola yesterday and xhaka instead of elnenny to give extra cover to the to young cbs.

As I say the man is a fool

All the good things that he achieved have now been undone .

Don't give me me the "0h look at our new training facilities and our lovely ground"

They mean nothing if you have a second rate side
and that is what we are fast becoming.

Wenger does it when the season has finished, Henry was going to be doing it all the way throughout the season.

What do you think he does as a pundit? Yes that's right, he watches games of football. Coincidentally that's also what a scout does.

The let's blame Arsene for all our clubs failings is getting ridiculous. By all means blame Kroenke as he's clearly using Arsenal as a means to finance huge dealings elsewhere (or so it's been alleged) . You can also blame Wenger for failing to address the injury crisis and inability to rectify the root of the problem.

As for new signings, yes we're all disappointed some improvements to our playing squad are yet to materialise but bear in mind we've got a huge squad right now so maybe it's a case of moving some players on before we add more. We've got 10 first team defenders, we had 3 arguably first choice goalkeepers and we've currently got about 2 million attacking midfielders. Ok so the last bit may be an overstatement but my point stands, our squad is huge.

If by the end of the transfer window we've not bought a CB and a forward then go crazy to your hearts content but make sure that happens before the next game because when that comes around it's time to support your team again. Wenger is most likely leaving at the end of this season and we'll have someone new in charge. Someone who probably won't share Wenger's philosophy of "overpaying" for players, and maybe that'll lead to big money signings or maybe it'll lead to expensive wastes of money. It may also spell the end of the great football we play, or the young players who get a chance at Arsenal. When Arsene does leave remember what he's done, not just for this club but for the Premier League as a whole, and don't let your anger at our failings overshadow the simple fact that we will never ever see another person at our club who will become as iconic as Wenger.

Wenger is the manager. Ultimately team performance is his responsibility so he is to blame.
There can be no debate about that, imo.

If Kroenke et al. are holding Wenger back then he should say so and offer to resign in protest.

There is no way Wenger is not to blame.

Melbourne I have been saying that on here for years

If he doesn't agree with the way the club is run, why does he keep signing new contracts.

Why would we never see someone as Iconic as Wenger at Arsenal again? He wasn't a God the last time I checked.

While frustrated as we all are, if Wenger is to resign or be fired, would hate to be the other managers that finished below 2nd ;-)

Someone who completely changed the club from top to bottom. He changed the nutrition and fitness approach used by not just Arsenal but by the whole league, he was miles ahead of his time.

He gave us the invincibles.

He brought arguably our greatest ever player in Henry to the club.

He transformed us from 1-0 to fluid attacking football.

He kept us in the Champions League when we were crippled with stadium debt.

I'm not claiming Wenger is a deity, or even that he is irreplaceable, but he is however the most iconic man in Arsenal History and it's very unlikely someone will ever pass him in that regard.

Sforza I do agree the problem is engrained in the club not wenger alone and yes we do have a large and unbalanced squad. We seem to have a problem with getting rid of players as well as buying them. I mean szechney is still an arsenal player, debuchy, toral, sanogo and others have been on several loans and can't be sold. It's because of their wages being too high too soon and we can't pay top dollar in wages for the best. Furthermore while we do have 2 or 3 talented youngsters our youth teams are pants now. the system has failed all the fans want is the club to hold up its hands to it and try something new. We will always be arsenal long after all these have gone!

red, i think it's less about finishing 2nd than it is there is, and hasn't been real progression in the team for years. if wenger, or any other potential manager invested say £100m+ in to the team on first team players and we still finished 2nd/ 3rd/ 4th we could at least put our hands up and say "we tried" but the thing is if we didn't win the season last year, by a considerable distance, how does wenger expect one new signing to bring us up to that level? especially when there are now four or five other teams who have strengthened considerably and look like they could be challenging for the title? if things stay as they are right now i could see us finishing 5th or 6th but as everyone has been saying the entire summer, we're a striker and a cb away from challenging.
