Same old arsenal. Wenger is realistic about the needs of the team but he wouldn't sort them out.
He folds his hands and expect magic to happen? It's a big season, everyone!

It's not a big season it's the same as the last one and the one before that and before that and before that blah blah bloody blah.

14 Aug 2016 20:05:31
Disappointed. not by the loss, but the poor ambition of the club. We are not even pretending to try.

14 Aug 2016 20:07:17
And that's the thing, everything is the same
Ambition from the club, top 4 above Spurs
The same players who have underachieved so often before get to do it all again.
Arsene in the job as long as he wants to be.
Everything is as it has been for years and we will get the same end result, champions league also ran participation this season and champions league qualification for next seasons champions league also ran participation.

Arsene had to stay otherwise there would have been no stadium. The guy is a genius could walk in to any club he wants but stuck with us for the better of the club. Is a true professional loyal to his bosses. Wont come out and shift the blame to them. Dein left for a reason and that was not wenger. He left because he could not work with owners that were not ready to spent like other clubs. If you can't see the problem wakeup boys and girls get behid Wenger and get the board out.

14 Aug 2016 20:54:34
The board keep giving Arsene contracts to show how happy they are with him and Arsene keeps signing them because he is happy with the way the board are running the club.
Separating them is impossible they are 100% on exactly the same page.
Steve Bruce was not the first and won't be the last manager to walk out because of a board without ambition.
Leicester blew away all the big sugar daddy money excuses last season and now the only camouflage left for Arsene fans to cover him in is the board.

14 Aug 2016 20:59:00
Ok

Tell me it was a good idea at the time but what had a new stadium done for us?

Why was it needed.

14 Aug 2016 21:29:31
The plan for the new stadium was made when we couldn't be financially competitive back when Bracewell-Smith and Hill-Wood families owned the club. They sold out to the yanks who bought a money making machine who knew they were onto a winner by having Wenger tied down for the forseable furture. He would divert all the attention from the hiarachy.

For me it comes down to the board if the board wanted victories and trophies and Wenger was the wrong man they would have sacked him. We need a rich arab/ russian who unleashes his wallet for once and then We can judge where the blame lies.

14 Aug 2016 22:10:00
To me personally building the Emirates stadium is when Arsene went from being a football manager to an financial adviser and Arsenal went from being a football club to a money making company.
I wish we'd never moved its been a bad move for the fans and football in general.

14 Aug 2016 22:18:11
Usmanov.

14 Aug 2016 22:28:49
G4E - I agree with you, the business model needs to change for us to compete properly.

14 Aug 2016 23:09:08
If we had stayed - why would we be able to compete with Chelsea, Utd and City when are gates were so small?
Big big difference is there are 3 financial super clubs to beat now - not just Utd
There was only one before and we had a competitive advantage in scouting for talent - that's gone as agents try to drive up prices and scouting has improved across the board
We could never sign another Vierra or Henry or Anelka as the agent runs to the press to get others interested
The world has changed and our model must also.

14 Aug 2016 23:10:21
Dein did not leave, he was against kronke and tried to get usminov in as top dog, it all went pete tong and kronke doesn't want dein anywhere bear the board or the club because he's batting for usminov. Dein had no choice when he nailed his colours to the mask. Wenger is kronkes puppet and he gets well paid for it too.

14 Aug 2016 23:19:30
When they built the stadium everything was fine Wenger new the constraints and believed the owners had the same vision to make arsenal great. Would have taken him 10 years to pay it off and we would have been better for it. Once the new owners came in all they seen was a money making machine. Arsene could have left with dein but stick with us n this is how we pay his loyalty? Shame on us all. We have been with him for 6/ 7 years and as soon as stadium is paid 4 for expect him to buy buy buy its not his money its that yanks. let's get behind him and the club if you really want to wish for something for wish for new owners not manager we have a great manager we just need the owners to be hungry as us.

On Chelsea :

"The most telling statistic, however, is that the 15 trophies under Abramovich exceeds the total of 11 they won between their formation in 1905 and the Russian’s arrival in 2003 – which highlights the club’s transformation in recent seasons. "

The guy arrived in 2003, has spent 2 billion on the club. He has spent 60m on paying off ex-managers!

That changed the landscape as dig the Northern Oilers who didn't know football was even played abroad until the billion pounds spent on their squad

Not saying we haven't made mistakes but they have been magnified by the changes in the landscape of the EPL

In fact the stupid money given to clubs by Sky seems to work against us because of the ridiculous fees

Come on Arsenal - put your money where your badge is and get us fans 3 new quality signings.

14 Aug 2016 23:40:32
Agree SY4.

14 Aug 2016 23:59:29
Steve,
It was Dein who brought Kroenke to Arsensl and brokered the first deal. It was not until later that he sold shares to R&W. Your boy clearly saw the Yanks as the saviour which cost Dein his board membership.

15 Aug 2016 00:43:38
Sy my point is dein didn't choose to leave, he's not welcome because of his allegiance to the usminov, kronke won't work with dein, not the other way round.
