Quote from Cesc Today:

"He gave me the chance. He took me when I was only 16, made me a better player, a better person, and was like a second father with the way he treated me. It's not normal nowadays in football because everything is so fast and everyone is so impatient. You need results now. "

Speaks a lot about Wenger's character, but at the same time makes you wonder his sentimental attachment to players (Wilshere / Walcott) is why he struggles to buy ready-made replacements.

Is this the same cesc that held his "father" and club to ransom. playing half heartedly. feigning injury. throwing his dummy out of the pram because he only wanted to goto farcelona
The guy left us and his " father" in the lurch. if he respects him so much should have stayed. cesc is old news.

Loyalty's a funny thing in football.
We've all heard how Arsene doesn't want to sign X because it'll halt Y's development (wouldn't surprise me If we see a 'signing Mahrez would halt Iwobi') but when Arsene shows it to players but has rarely received it in return, you have to ask if it's a flawed policy?

Im all for giving a player a chance, look at Le Coq, 3 years ago, everyone on this page would of sent him off to a Stoke or a West Ham.
Now he's a key part of the team.
But that sort of scenario happens one in a hundred times.
Theo isn't going to become a world class striker for us.
Campbell isn't going to hit that next level.
Mertesacker isn't going to drag us to the prem.
Gibbs isn't the next Cole.

These are all good players and most (arguably) have a part to play in the arsenal pantomime, but there has to come a point where someone admits that we can find better players and that's when you have to be ruthless.
Jose, Pep, Sir Alex didn't win titles in recent years by being really nice blokes, they did it by being ruthless, demanding the best and refusing to accept anything less than 100%

Sometimes Arsene's too nice for his own good.

Wenger made a decision some time ago to try and sign young talent and bring them through. He has always looked for players to purchase for sensible fees and to improve them.
We bought Bellerin, Koscileny, Giroud, etc for sensible fees and they are excellent players.

We seem to buy one high priced player a season; Ozil, Sanchez, Xhakka.
Wenger believes that Clubs should be run as profitable businessess.
Chelsea, Man City and Man U have bought their success at great cost to the club's owners. Leicester was a fluke last season. They have already lost Kante and others may well depart. I can't see them replicating last season, particularly as they have CL football to cope with.
