I don't really get the moaning over the failure to sign Kante, whether before or after joining Leicester. We have signed Granit Xhaka who looks great in my opinion. He doesn't need to run around all day to be a great DM, he is well suited to our style of play. I think Wenger wanted a Sergio Busquets type of player, great at reading play and can control the tempo of the game. He is tall, strong, tenacious and a great passer, what more could you want from a midfielder. You don't need to be rapid to a great midfielder, and he could be with someone faster to mitigate his perceived weakness ala Behrami for the National team. I really don't see the hysteria to be honest.
We have Ramsey who can run around for days, he can compensate
for any lack of energy in our midfield.
He might or might not prove to a success at Arsenal, but to write him off as the wrong signing before he's even played for us is wrong.

I don't get why people are disappointed either, once Xhaka was signed that was us and Kante off the agenda.
Given the choice would I have taken Kante over Xhaka? Of course I would but we didn't have that chioce to make as Xhaka was doable and Kante had so many options available to him we were unlikely to top his list.
As the season unfolds the same thing will be said about every player who moved this summer and does well " we should have had him ' :-)
As if we had the option in the first place, if Mahrez leaves Leicester he will have many options and I'm not sure we will be top of his to do list either so its pointless moaning about not getting a player who was never going to come us in the first place.

Happy and happy we got him in quickly. In fact happy with him, Elneny, Coq, Santi etc to Marshall CM.

I would put money on it that those demanding we sign Kante this season were also demanding we signed Nemanja Matić a couple of seasons ago. A big strong presence that had been missing from our midfield.
Now it's let get the diminutive Kante. Some people really are truly never happy. 😉
Still we can relax knowing Chelsea will win the league as they've now signed him. If we could just find out which player we need to sign to win the Champions League we could be on to something.
So who is it Steve? 😂😂😂.

I remember Ottmar Hitzfeld likened Xhaka to a "young Schweinsteiger" a few years ago, and similarly Thorsten Fink said "Xherdan Shaqiri is the best talent in Switzerland. after Xhakaâ€. He has stood out as someone to watch for a while now, and fingers crossed he fits in well here. i'm not knocking Kante, but after 1 top flight season can he continue his current form? Probably, yes, but we don't know for certain. I would love Kante here, but I am similarly very excited by Xhaka. For me he plays like Alonso, deep controlling midfielder with an eye for a pass and strong in the tackle. I was always envious of Liverpool when Alonso was there, and I really believe we have someone who can do a similar job.

Lets see how the season pans out before we go giving Chelsea and Kante the title Red, after all Utd and City might have something to say about that :-) although I do very much doubt Xhaka and Arsenal will be very vocal on this issue:-)
Kante v Xhaka? Let's talk again next May and see who has the best season as right now it's all opinion and to a large degree extremely biased both ways for some :-)

Steve I said we'd finish 2nd behind Man City, don't believe I was one who said Leicester wouldn't last the pace either mate.
We had a fantastic opportunity and we know who blew it. For your info I don't think we'll do naff all this season, we need a striker and will not be buying one. Simple.
Thus I couldn't give a toss who wins what, but you said Chelsea would with Kante. I have obviously noted that mate. 😉
P. s I'd agree with all but the left back.

Kante on his own is a great player for me with all the players they have he finishes their team and balances it perfectly, I don't see a stronger more balanced squad at the moment, still time to change that. I actually rate hime better than pogba. Anyway I hope i'm wrong.
