I'd of bloody loved Williams 2 or 3 seasons ago.
He really was/ is a player who would of improved us, he may not be a 'big' name, but as you say, he's a leader and a really large presence.
I think he's like 31 now though isn't he?
So I can't see us moving for him unfortunately.

Williams as an upgrade on Mertesacker as both captain and partner for Kos is surely a very big step forward.
Williams and a quality finisher would make us so much more difficult proposition for opponents.

I know but age is just a number, imo he got another 2 seasons in him and can teach chambers, and a great player to have in the dressing room.

Agree, he would be a step forward. Once Adams turned 31, he was still awsome for a number of years after that.

Give Wenger a break on that one he tried to sign Williams if I recall severall seasons ago and it was a couple on the trot but I think we were well outpriced for his signature. (could have been a rumour also was a few years back now, I forget) .

Williams WAS on our shopping list a few seasons ago if you remember.
BUT! again we failed miserably to attract him even then boys. Same old same old.
{Ed001's Note - to be fair, so did any other club. He never wanted to leave there. Williams and Brendan Rodgers were very close, but he couldn't persuade him to leave Swansea for Liverpool either. So I would not hold that against Wenger or Arsenal too much.}
