Just saying

Girouds mins per goal is 143

Vardy's mins per goal is 186

Vardy PL games 70 Goals 29

Giroud PL Games 65 Goals 30

Shot conversion rate
Vardy 22%
Giroud 22 %

From Sky sports

Now that's interesting.

Most of vardys goals came last season and he is a premier league winning striker and that stat is the telling one. Never have rated giroud and I don't enjoy watching him but I do vardy. If I was a central defender I know which one id rather play against.

06 Jun 2016 21:15:25
Still say we need to adjust our style of play to accomodate Vardy, Steve.

06 Jun 2016 21:22:29
But that's a counter attacking team and a ball possession obsessed team

Surely that's a factor?

06 Jun 2016 21:41:21
Swap the players and see how the other does. Vardy In a possession playing team will score more I reckon. Giroud in a counter attack team would score minimal goals. I think vardy will do a fine job for us.

06 Jun 2016 21:41:35
Ollys quality chance conversion is the problem and always has been, Sturridge Kane Vardy Lukaku and many more are simply better finishers than Giroud, in terms of team work Olly is fantastic but in terms of finishing his just not a premier league winning striker.
Leicester wouldn't have won the premier league with Giroud instead of Vardy and to me that's what it's about.

06 Jun 2016 21:50:14
Stats are useless when trying to compare the two. Giroud has impressive stats compared to most strikers. All this possession vs counter stuff is also nonsense. We don't play enough crosses to play with giroud and we slow play up too much for vardy. Surely we need a technical striker with good control and intelligent runs off the ball. I do like strikers to have pace so vardy is one up in that respect. But for me the only striker out there for us is aubameyang.

06 Jun 2016 22:03:10
But would he cone to us Sanogo mate?

06 Jun 2016 22:19:38
Sanogo,
Aubameyang would be the icing on the cake, the new Drogba.

Will never happen, bound for Spain.

06 Jun 2016 22:23:08
Sano we are not big enough for aubamayang. Why are we knocking a striker who has won the prem, scored goals under extreme pressure, won player of the year in the prem, was one goal off the golden boot playing less games than kane, is now our main striker for england, is in his prime and better than what we have. If we don't get him we will get one of deeney, igalo or sane and none of them are up to vardys standard. This is wenger we are on about he isn't going toe to toe with the big boys for the golden fleece. Vardy is very good, plays well under pressure and is one of the best strikers in our league. I have always said we will never win a league with giroud as our striker and we might get one who has done that and coped. Be realistic boys, we can't be to optomistic with our present engine drivers, they don't like spending.

06 Jun 2016 23:06:15
Just for the record I was just throwing it in for the debate

I always prefer a striker with pace . Vardy would be fine IMO

But also IMO I think he ( Vardy ) will stay put.

06 Jun 2016 23:23:46
I've got to say although I don't rate Theo very highly I think he could have done what vardy did at Leicester last season.
1: If he played as the striker for the majority of the season (lone/ as a two)

2: If he played for a counter attacking team

As much as I like Vardy it may not actually be much better than what we have thinking about it. We need a more technical, intricate player as our striker to make it all click.

I would have thought Alexis Sanchez would be ideal.

06 Jun 2016 23:59:19
Jegooner that's your opinion mate the fact is theo hasn't won the league yet and he will never get that chance at Leicester. Opinion doesn't win leagues fact do and the fact is vardy is a winner with a winner mentality. I think theo could be better than he is but do you get the feeling he's a winner with the manner of an assassin. Vardy has. Do people understand what's needed to win big trophies.

07 Jun 2016 06:20:39
Speaking from your years of experience winning all the top prizes football has to offer?

07 Jun 2016 10:25:10
Yes Steve mate but the fact is Theo hasn't played a season as a striker like vardy has (many times) I'm just saying if Theo was given the same chance as vardy I bet you he'd match him.

The winners mentality? What like chucking your leg into your opponents, falling over n claiming a penalty. He cheated his way to a few goals last year which I felt was disgusting (but a lot do it) and not wanted at my beloved club.

Vardy is not the answer!

07 Jun 2016 20:56:53
Jegooner i'm speechless. Vardy has just won the prem got player of the year and you say thing like he's not the answer. i'm speechless.
