Interesting developments regarding Flaming, it now seems likely he'll be staying. Is this just a way to keep Mesut happy and settled as their bromance is well documented. Surely that isn't the sole reason, there is no longer room for him in midfield barring 3 injuries to players ahead of him. He can provide decent full back cover which is in his favour but such a squad role wouldn't justify his wages. Or maybe Wenger is concerned that if we release him then he'll seek revenge as a maniacal villain, ploughing all his billions into diabolical schemes against the club. Who knows? Who really cares? I just enjoy speculation.

Obviously meant to read as Flamini. Flaming auto-correct!

Love the Flamster, probably won't get a game but a legend for me.

To be fair to Flamini atleast he was available for selection most of the season and did contribute to some degree, as long as him staying doesn't take up a squad place and prevent us signing new players I don't see a problem.

I've got to say I too love flam-bam. I think he'd make a decent coach so hopefully he stays n does his badges, the plus side of that is like you say "the bromance" between him n mesut.

I did question this the other day. supoose he's a good back up back up.

I truly hope you are joking. He was awful when used last season, a complete waste of space. One would have to question Wenger's sanity if Flamini remains at the club. I would never have resigned him, after he left the first time, never mind extend his deal for a further season.

I just had a quick look at the official site and all three of the older players that should have left a couple of seasons ago are still on the site, albeit Flamini is the sole one that still has a number. I believe all three will be taken off the site as soon as their contracts actually run out, anytime soon. Unless, Flamini's contract was for a year longer than we thought and we have to get rid of him first.

I'd prefer him to leave and free up a squad role space for a player who can actually contribute something on the pitch.

It just strikes me as odd that he wasn't included in the fanfare of farewells like Arteta and Rosicky. He also maintains his squad number on the official site, as has been stated.

Maybe Wenger doesn't want to lose 3 'experienced' players in the same window. But as far as I'm concerned Flam just doesn't offer enough to merit a place, regardless of his status as a cult hero.

There is another not so appealing thought that Arsene might be considering letting Le coq go to raise funds and having Flamini as back up to Element and xhaka?
Especially if reports of our maintained interest in Kante is true.

G62, I know it seems silly to place importance on something as trivial as squad numbers, but if that were the case then I'm sure Xhaka would have been given 34. We're well covered without Flamini and it seems to me that the centre of the park is sorted.

Other than his performance out of nowhere against spurs where he bagged a brace including an absolute screamer - I don't have much time for Flam.
