In all honesty goons, where we finish this year really does not bother me, as long as we get Champions League football next season, I personally think the league is now finished, unless Leicester loose against Wetspam.

Europa league matches, distance to away games and also the amount of games played is a burden for all teams who qualify for it. Thursday then Sunday matches has its strain on all teams playing in it.

As rival supporters you honestly can not be happy with the transformation of our team and the disparity between our teams now?

I read that your own fans are in limbo with the current squad and management? There is a big rebuilding job at hand for you! Can you attract players if there's so much uncertainty over your manager? Will the board allow Wenger to spend if he does not sign a new contract? Will your manager step aside at the end of this year? And if so who do you get in? Then there's a settling period for a manager to put his philosophy on the team and finally to get his own players in!

There's definately some testing times ahead for you boys in my opinion.

Good post NES.

You can't deny Spurs have done well this season.

Poch is doing a good job at WHL and has developed a good team.

We, on the other hand, have under achieved, but (technically) are only 3 points behind you.

We have been through situations like this many times.

Moving to a new stadia, selling our best players to facilitate the move and having to compete against big money team's like Chelsea, City and Man Utd, on a shoe string budget.

It's nothing new for us, and like I said, there's nothing between Spur's and Arsenal.

Fair play to you lot, I fully acknowledge that you have a good young squad. However Spurs with the new stadium coming may find themselves struggling to keep a hold of your talent or to attract players of a higher caliber, which if Leicester do win the league next year, you may look to recruit in the summer with a view of challenging next year. However, Chelsea and City SURELY can't be as awful as this year, especially with Pep coming in. I feel this was your only shot tbh, don't get me wrong, this year was a bloody good chance for us, as I ain't confident about competing with City in the next few years.

However, I think that we are in a better position than Spurs to build a squad. We currently have reportedly £200m in the bank, which hopefully our rapid decline this season is a blessing in disguise. By which i mean that it hopefully kicks the board into action and freshens up their ideas. Honestly think that we will sign a few £20m+ players this summer. Wenger will renew in summer also. With a strong, relatively young, squad in the next few years we will be quite a bit ahead of your lot.

Taking this into consideration that this season you haven't really had a rough patch, where as our last 3 months have been. I can't see you doing it again next season.

On another note. combined 11 for Arsenal v Spurs. Basing it on if everyone is full fit and on form.

Cech
Bellerin - Kos - Alderweireld - Monreal
Wilshere - Dier
Alexis - Ozil - Eriksen
Kane

Basing it on this, individually we are better. But Spurs are a much better unit. I can see us working on this a lot over pre-season. Not to mention the fact that we are in the market for a new CB, CM and CF. I'm not overly concerned about you being > than us. My opinion is that a few dodgey games at the start of the year and injuries. Really threw our confidence and I think Wenger was also thrown at the fact a team that looked like it was building up steam towards the league, completely collapsed.

Basically, I can see us next season and for years to come, above you and hopefully making our way to superclub status, just as you have established yourselves as regualr top 4 candidates.

{Ed001's Note - how on earth does Wilshere get in there? Even when fully fit he is not that good. How has he fooled so many people that he is something special at anything other than being a complete tool or getting injured? Players like him are why England are so useless. They lack the technical ability to be anything worth talking about. Dembele, on the other hand, has that in abundance, just needs a little bit more fire in his belly to be top class. He is certainly better than Wilshere though. You would have to take Alli over either anyway, or Eriksen, depending on where you choose to play Alli.}

Have to agree with Ed,

Certainly based on 'value to the team', Wilshere is not fit enough to lace Alli's boots.

In fact, Wilshire is not fit enough to lace his own boots.

Alli would certainly be next choice behind Wilshere, but I just think he's a brilliant MF. I think we have to agree to disagree dags/ ed.

What'd also be interesting would be to see how Iwobi and Alli would compare, given Iwobi a full season. He seemed comfortable the other day against west ham.

11 Apr 2016 17:02:55
ed - Wilshere has no technical ability? laughable. Wilshere fully fit would wipe the floor with Alli, Dembele or Eriksen. Delusion if you can't see that. It's just a shame he's never had a prolonged period in the team. Regardless, if Wilshere is fit he has to play. He can pass, dribble, shoot, tackle. England perform much better with Wilshere as well.

{Ed001's Note - did I say no technical ability, or did you decide that through your clearly Wilshere-tainted specs? You are deluded and utterly insane if you think Wilshere is anywhere near those 3 technically. He can't tackle, he can't dribble, which is why he constantly picks up injuries overstretching to keep control of the ball, he has a terrible attitude and only the most deluded Gooner could possibly believe he is that great. I don't care about England, but that was exactly my point, it is because England are so rubbish that players like him make a difference. I really can't believe how deluded some people are, he makes Diaby seem worthwhile. He is the typical knobhead moron footballer who lets himself down on a regular basis.}

I'd put wilshere in as well. I think he's great.

Sanogo,
Great at what? :-)

{Ed018's Note - good question, the answer certainly is t football}

Arsene is going no where this summer and next is anyone's guess, its not a matter of wanting or not wanting him to continue its just how it is.
Will he suddenly change his ways this summer? Its hard to imagine he will suddenly give up on players he's been backing for years or that he will second for section chioce buys if he can't get it exactly who he wants.
If he wants let's say Kane for arguments sake but can't get him Vardy is not an option he will consider and so on, its his way not pay decent money unless he gets exactly what he wants, he would rather go without completely, I don't agree with him but that's irrelevant.

11 Apr 2016 20:50:14
Smoking and clubbing Ed :-)

{Ed018's Note - I can agree to that}

11 Apr 2016 23:24:20
Whenever a player is injured long-term, he has no technical ability blah blah blah. Same applied to sturridge n welbeck, they were supposedly no good 2 months ago and are now starting every game. Imagine the number of transactions if managers started thinking like that.

11 Apr 2016 23:53:51
I still believe a fully for jack wilshere starts in that team. But then again we have never seen it really. Shame but I remember seeing him at 16 thinking this guy is going to be our future . Real shame.
