That’s incredible to think we’ve only spent that much to offload that horrible squad load of players we had to now having a squad in which every player is a genuinely saleable asset.

I think in Saliba, Saka, Odegaard, Gabriel, White and Rice we’d recoup more than that figure alone.

It’s been forever since we could say that.

Great post for picking that out mate, even though I know you actually simply meant to say, ARTETA OUT! 😂.

In which case everyone has fecked up and the answer is to sack MA and get Man City manager - he must be good! Thank goodness they haven’t got 115 charges over them . Not sure if we have any! Each to their own I guess let’s try and win without the charges I rather like that idea - call me old fashioned COYG. MA in ( am I in a twilight world)

 0

{Ed014's Note - they couldn’t cope with 5 penalties the other night mate, god knows how they’ll cope with 115! 😂

Can we look at net spend from 2008 not what suits the bias. Up until 2019 ( from 2008 ) believe C£ty net spent £1.2 billion on players! Us well £297 million thick end of a £1 BILLION Bit of perspective please Banbury! These figures may or may not be true but no animals were hurt in looking for them COYG.

19 Apr 2024 18:59:21
Just goes to show its not all about money, look at Chelsea and United. Money helps but you still need to spend it well and have a manager who can get motivate and get the best out of the players you buy. Pep and Mikel have been the top 2 managers over the last 2 seasons.

 0

19 Apr 2024 19:45:37
Right Sussex, the city figure is quite skewed they've got a very good net spend the last 5 years, but they've sold high value players they had brought for high values previous to those 5 years, they got about £500 mil income from the likes of Mahrez, Laporte, Sane, Zinchenko, Otamendi, Danilo, Jesus, Sterling

Their net spend for the 5 years before is £-640 mil.

19 Apr 2024 20:06:20
Which club's have risen or fallen furthest during this spending period, obviously the biggest climbers are Newcastle and Arsenal from near bottom and 8th place and the biggest fallers are Chelsea from top to nowhere noticeable.

Hello everyone.
Just like to put this out to the Eds and posters.
There have disagreements over the last few days on the site but one thing we all agree on is we need a out and out striker.
Ollie Watkins is 29 this December
Ivan Toney is 29 next March, do you think that giving the transfer fee they would command, giving there ages it might be better to look at someone younger or go for the finished articles in either Watkins or Toneh.

 0

{Ed025's Note - for me Bill one of those would have won you a trophy This season but are not a long term solution because of their ages mate, we all know you needed a striker THIS season but you gambled that you had enough, time will tell of course and if you win the PL then im talking through my arse, but if you dont i believe it was a mistake that this very good side will finish empty handed..

 0

18 Apr 2024 19:13:24
Thanks for your views Ed
Much appreciated.

 0

{Ed025's Note - no problem Bill, i just hope you have enough to get the job done mate, you deserve something the way you have played this season imo..

 0

18 Apr 2024 19:52:30
Hope your right in your hopes Ed025 mate but even if we don't win the league we've had a wonderful ride fir the second season running and this one has been even better than season. Yes everyone wants their team to be the very best and lift trophies but its been a very long time since we were this good.

Personally overall I have no complaints whatsoever.

 1

{Ed025's Note - i get that G62 and yes it has been a great season, i just think you may have missed a trick by not gaining some silverware mate your season certainly deserved it, you are still bang in there though to lift the PL trophy of course but you will have to rely on the other 2 dropping points..but good luck..

 0

18 Apr 2024 21:25:05
Agree with the sentiments of g62 for me we have enough in our team toney and Watkins were both unrealistic targets. Anyone we would have bought in would have caused massive rift at this stage and pressure to perform from the striker would have played a part too. I have enjoyed this season so far and will continue to do so no matter where we finish. That's not to say I didn't want us to win.

 0

18 Apr 2024 20:42:10
Thanks mate, I do agree we need a recognised proven goal scorer and such a player might well be the thing that costs us silverware this season, but ultimately its all about how much you enjoy dance rather just editing up in the right place on the dance floor when the music stops.

If we miss out this time I'm already looking forward to next seasons hokey cokey 👍👍👍🌈.

 0

{Ed025's Note - its been a great effort mate..

 0

18 Apr 2024 22:49:33
Exactly and we have enjoyed every moment of it. Think about it we could be splashing all the cash and be like Chelsea man u or even tottenham. Enjoy the moment. Trust the process. For me the stand out teams have been arsenal and villa. Liverpool n man city have performed as expected man u Brighton Brentford underperformed Chelsea have been abissmal.

I'd like to bring in Isak.

18 Apr 2024 12:58:26
Disappointed to lose last night but it was close over the 2 legs

We have a hugely talented squad one of the best for many many years IMO.

BUT, has Arteta taken the side as far as he can?

Spending of nearly 600 million, I should imagine the owners will want to start to see something in return PDQ.

Thoughts?

 0

18 Apr 2024 13:23:18
Since the start of the year until now we actually lost 1 league game. Conceded only 6 while we scores shyt loads. Yes we are out of the champions league but in all honesty did any of us really believed we could win it. We reached the quarter final and we lost on a very small margin although we are disappointed we lost it shows how far we've come.
As for the league position, we still in it.

 2

18 Apr 2024 15:11:59
My question Banbury is are we improving! In my opinion absolutely! You do realise C£ty did the treble last year and not only spent more than us but Timber has been out all year! Their signings have played! Do we realistically automatically assume we spent the money so should win the league even though C£ty spent more. Chelsea spent a gazillion and but for Palmer would be god knows where. He like Saka will get marked next season! Just look at the squad when MA took over - we have overhauled and with some fantastic players and still in the title race with six games to go! Spurs Chelsea and United were out of it in August! I don’t see the players downing tools but playing for the manager! Rare for us particularly in latter Wenger and Emery years. When it’s mathematically impossible to win the league then we can dissect! But a c£ty draw and we win puts us above them! Me Uncle John used to say defeat is what you stand on but feck me some on here are horizontal! I wouldn’t go into battle with them! Can’t believe I’m saying it but MA in and we are still in it - a lot is down to MA in my opinion COYG win lose or draw Gunners Forever ( but if we don’t win the league because we are improving I’m not throwing anyone under a bus!

Great shout Sussex, a lot of people seem to forget that we had a serious amount of deadwood, sucking the soul out of great club, when Mikel turned up. he said it’s all about the process and it will take some time to sort through it. and to trust him. he has bought the connection back between fans and the club. we are seeing the fruits of his labour. the experience of Arteta and the squad of the last two seasons will serve them all well. onwards and upwards. COYG/ VTH. 🔴⚪️❤️.

 1

18 Apr 2024 17:13:54
Absolutely Sussex mate
Auba, Lacca, Mustafi, Kolinseac, Leno, Pepe to name but a few
Lot of overpaid underperforming players.

 0

18 Apr 2024 17:38:29
The disappointment for me was the manner we went out it was so flat at least go out all guns blazing not with a whimper.

 0

{Ed025's Note - still need a slotter for me Oleary, should have been addressed in the last window for me mate..

 1

18 Apr 2024 18:05:09
Not sure how any fan thinks Arteta has took the club as far as he can when he took over he was not meant to get us this far this quick he is actually ahead of schedule in The project I think we have real jem of a manager and need to trust him and the board they seem to know what they are doing also the team is still you g and will learn from every experience good or bad as will Arteta and the will be stronger for it changing thing now would be complete madness IMO.

 0

{Ed014's Note - it’s just the beginning for Arteta for me, he’s been backed to get rid of the toxic money grabbers.

He’s now assembling a great squad which we all know needs to be stronger but we have a fantastic base that he’s built us and it’s only up from here for me.

19 Apr 2024 07:57:44
I'd take Watkins, good work rate and good attitude and a good finisher :)

Great post Sussex mate. And as RG the rich man is saying it's only the beginning.

Just heard pep has put the whole man city squad on two weeks work experience as milk men, what a bunch of bottle jobs.! . 🍼🍼🍼🍼. OH so sorry for saying that. it's only our arsenal are allowed that tag. we are not bottle jobs. We have a young hungry squad of talented footballers who are learning on the job. and the fact that we are improving each year with the experience we are gaining (good/ bad ones) . last season and this season is proof in the pudding. last two seasons we have been right in the mix for actually winning the league title. and not out of the running by Christmas with an ever growing toxic atmosphere at the emirates. (Remember them days) .? Because I do. we have a top talented young coach who has this club from top to bottom pulling in the same direction. we have seen this team of ours play some fantastic football/ blowing teams away at times. I'm super proud to be a gunner. I also respect that everyone has a right to their opinion. we are on the right path, most definitely. just remember Rome wasn't built in a day. bottle jobs no way. WE ARE THE ARSENAL/ N🔴RTH LONDON FOREVER/ COYG/ VTH. 🔴⚪️❤️⚽️.

 1

18 Apr 2024 11:22:54
Chelsea fan here in peace, I think you have done very well under Arteta and you should be proud of your progress. Bottle jobs? Sadly, Gary Neville is paid to talk rubbish and when he said that about us in the cup final I thought at the time that saying will now be used against every side who doesn't achieve what they set out to do! It also takes a lot to win the trophy with the big ears but I can assure you it is worth waiting for. good luck in the title race.

18 Apr 2024 11:46:36
Great post Gabi mate
And your opinion is much appreciated G8.

 1

18 Apr 2024 12:09:43
Respect to you G8…. Neville is a first class prat… didn’t he try to be a manager in Spain at some point… that went well didn’t it… Neville and his mate James the spit. are the two biggest bottle jobs going. watch their aprons flap in the wind every time Roy Keane puts it on them.

Hi Banbury mate good to have you back mate. I don't honestly know the answer to your question and in all truth none of us can genuinely hand on heart say yes or no, only time will tell.

If I had a vote on whether to allow Arteta 2 more guaranteed seasons I'd vote emphatically yes because I genuinely believe he's earned that right. That's the most honest answer I can give mate.

 0

18 Apr 2024 19:53:56
Sorry I replied to Banbury on the wrong thread, ooppps 🙃.

18 Apr 2024 05:14:17
Just like to say that we are still very much in the running for the premiership title. This was Mikel and the boys first punt at the CL so quarter final ain't shabby and we went out to the better team on the night.
Also even though Pep won 2 Champions league titles with Barca, probably with a squad that is up their with the all time greats, he didn't manage to win it in 3 seasons at Bayern who also had a great squad and it took him 5 goes till he won it at City which goes to show how hard it is to win it. Just seen that City have been knocked out on penalties which I didn't want for selfish reasons has I wanted City to have a heavy fixture list.
So I not going to be a pundit and state the bleeding obvious and say we need to win our remaining games and City and Liverpool slip up but we are capable of winning our last 6 games and putting pressure on the other 2.
COYG ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️.

Well said bill. all we can do now is give our all, the arsenal and all us fans get right behind this great club of ours. full support for our team, give them the boost they fully deserve. WE ARE THE 12th MAN. really go for it in the remaining games…and see where it takes us. what will be will be. this excellent young team of ours is improving as it grows. with a few decent additions in the summer. ( I believe we will kick on even more) … N🔴RTH LONDON FOREVER / COME ON YOU GUNNERS.

 1

18 Apr 2024 10:44:49
“We are the 12th man” unless things aren’t going our way and we all bugger off home instead of supporting the team when they really need it.

 0

18 Apr 2024 11:45:10
Not me mate. THE ARSENAL TILL I DIE… one thing my old dad told me from a young age. and I passed on to my three boys… is stay until the end, never leave early. as it only takes a second to score a goal…#THEARSENALTILLIDIE😉.

 0

18 Apr 2024 11:51:35
Well said bill mate, and unfortunately that's the sad reality for some of our fans redal. We are having a great season, couple of bad results and they start slating the club, it's like for got where we were and how far we've become.
I see we are progressing and going in the right direction.
GoYG.

 0

18 Apr 2024 12:00:18
Without an out and out goal scorer, you will never win it. I'm a Liverpool fan but i can see watching your team everything is right except a 25 / 30 goal a season forward . This showed last night bayern just smothered your forwards and they had no answer but you did really well to get that far into competion . I also think your manager needs to take a step back he needs to let your players express them selves they sèem to be scared to do things on the park i no i would not like to play under him . Matrineli and saka do not do enough because they are under orders Klopp would give them two freadom of the pitch if he had them .

 0

18 Apr 2024 18:12:08
I always used to stay until well after the final whistle but didn't have a choice as my car was parked in the stadium 🤣🤣🤣

But even the times it was not I never left early it is always a pain getting out the clouds at the end but you pay a lot of money to support/ watch game I'm getting my worth from it🤣.

 0

17 Apr 2024 22:44:09
I think the lads look a bit burnt out the last few games no matter what we can be proud of the football they have played this season.

We will only get better add a bit of depth to the squad and we will be seriously competitive next season on all fronts.

City game at pens as I write this lest hope they make it to the final and get beat by Dortmund

Lol thy have missed 2 pens as I wright.

 0

17 Apr 2024 22:01:39
Gave it a good go but was always going to be a tough ask. Sometimes you just have to take the loss and move on.

COYG.

 2

{Ed014's Note - agree mate and all or nothing in the league now

 0

17 Apr 2024 22:05:09
Hopefully Kroenke being there sees the glaring need for a proper striker 14, hope you andmrs14 are well.

 0

{Ed014's Note - I’m sure he knows we need one mate and all good with us mate and hopefully the same with you and yours mate.

 1

17 Apr 2024 22:09:38
Gave it everything, but let's get behind the team for a massive game against Wolves
COYG❤️❤️❤️❤️.

 2

17 Apr 2024 22:11:32
Hi guy’s

This is still a very young team. First time in the cl and we reach the quarterfinals

Ten years ago we would of gotten beaten 9-1

I for one am proud of the boys

You ok 14?

 2

{Ed014's Note - very proud mate, all steps in their learning curve and the boys will only get better.

All good thanks mate

 1

17 Apr 2024 22:12:12
In case of Arsenal that's always the case. Take the loss and move on cause this club can't win anything. At the end of the day we are at least competing and that is the only thing we can take. But year after year bottling it whenever it matters is not good enough.

 0

{Ed014's Note - don’t agree with the bottling part mate but each to their own.

 1

17 Apr 2024 22:13:45
We have been outdone tactically a few times recently. Teams are happy making center compact and they are coming up with ways to diffuse our press as well. On the ball we're lacking cutting edge. Still all to play for in the league and it should be clear where we need to improve for next season.

 1

17 Apr 2024 22:21:09
Tonight showed the depth of our squads needs improving.
Switched over to see City being able to bring on Doku and Alvarez for Grealish and Haaland.

 1

17 Apr 2024 22:22:29
No sparky we did not give it a good go it was such a flat performance we defended quite well but created nothing!

 0

17 Apr 2024 22:25:17
Are we still 4th place and CL last 16 happy? Clearly not any more

Are we doing all we can to be the best we can possibly be? I'd say yes we clearly we are

Has this team peaked yet? Personally I don't think it has.

Disappointed to go out but extremely happy with how far much the team and club have progressed in the last couple of seasons.

Up The Arsenal, I've no complaints whatsoever 👍👍👍👍.

 3

17 Apr 2024 22:51:21
If any everyone who doesn't fulfil your wishes is a bottler then your life must be absolutely full of disappointment at everyone but yourself.

Makes you think doesn't it?

 0

17 Apr 2024 23:07:12
No need for psychoanalysis gunner62 mate. Competing for the title for 2 years in a row is not bad. Certainly better then not playing Champions league or finishing 7th or 8th in the league. But losing whenever the pressure is on to finish the job is a definition of bottling it whether you like it or not.

 0

18 Apr 2024 01:24:40
I doubt we bottled anything in the champions league. Bayern maybe they are having a bad season but they are experienced more then enough to know how to deal with this type of pressure. Same as Madrid mate.
They lads they lack the CL experience and now they got it.
As for the league I don't believe we are out of it just yet. So no need to cry and talk down the team no the manager just yet.

 2

18 Apr 2024 05:40:43
Not sure why this "Bottlers" tag is aimed at Arsenal? Getting beat by City for the league last year hurt like hell but it wasnt "Bottling" That is what happens when you come up against a side who have a Sub bench that would be most teams 1st team. Our team ran out of puff towards the end of the season as we simply don't have the squad to bring £100m players off of the bench, We don't have that luxury, we stuck to the FFP for the last 15 years unlike others.

If you honestly think we should be able to go into the Champions League 1/ 4 finals and blow teams away you need a reality check or maybe Arsenal Football Club isn't for you

COYG.

 2

{Ed014's Note - it’s a crazy tag from our own supporters, I expect from the other fans.

My assumption must be that Liverpool must be bottlers for not beating City to more titles and City must be bottlers for losing last night.

Maybe Burnley are bottlers for getting relegated.

There is so much to be positive about!

But hey if it allows him to cope with a loss that’s his way. 🤦‍♂️🤷‍♂️

 2

18 Apr 2024 07:25:51
Last night I think we needed an out and out striker seemed like we didn’t really attack with the speed we normally do, bgdgooner I’ve noticed that if 62 doesn’t like somthing he comes back with his infamous greeting card essays that most of the time make no sence, hopefully big Stan will notice we need a world class striker so I’m hoping he actually knows anything about football so he buys one.

 0

18 Apr 2024 09:05:25
Hello Dublin mate, I think 30 goal a season striker is top of the shopping list, who that is🤷
Think a left back is on the list as well.
Hopefully we can get 3pts against Wolves this Saturday
COYG ❤️ ❤️.

18 Apr 2024 10:00:24
I’d like the guy from sporting bill, he’s notched 50 plus goals and assists he’s also done it in the championship which is a tough league, also what I like about him if he’s in the box he won’t try any fancy passes he just wants to score, I’d love him in an arsenal shirt.

 0

18 Apr 2024 10:21:06
Is that the former Coventry player?

 0

18 Apr 2024 10:27:30
Yes sparky.

 0

18 Apr 2024 11:51:48
Gyokeres is his name I think.
Doing the business at Sporting Lisbon.
I had a cousin who lived in Coventry and followed the Sky Blues, this fella was highly thought of up there
Perhaps he is the one for us Dublin and Sparky.

 1

18 Apr 2024 18:22:30
Dublin, I thought you threw the towel in at the weekend when you declared our player's were bottlers nd ourseason was over?

 0

17 Apr 2024 21:39:15
Does Raya ever come for crosses?

 0

18 Apr 2024 10:10:18
Don't you mean Dracula?, he doesn't like crosses.

 1

17 Apr 2024 16:19:04
Just like to say hope you all enjoy the match tonight.

Hubby is using my phone to watch City so I won't be joining livechat but I hope we get the result that would send our happiness into the stratosphere! ⚽️ 🥅.

 0

17 Apr 2024 16:34:39
Absolutely Sally absolutely.

 0

17 Apr 2024 19:01:33
We can be extremely confident that both mangers and set's of players will be giving it everything they have to give to be in the semi final after tonight's game. We all have days and periods where we are at our absolute best everything just fall's into place for use we've ease and we all have days and times when no matter how hard we try we just can't
seem to achieve what we desperately want to achieve at that time.

I have no clue how tonight's game will go but whatever happens I'm happy to accept everyone will have given the best they had to give on the night, win or lose. Up The Arsenal before during and after the tonight's game no matter what happens 👍👍👍👍👍.
